She is a visual practitioner. And I met her by the shores of Lake Geneva.

So, you're a visual practitioner, what does that mean exactly?
I practice quick sketching for various organizations, which means my work starts with listening and synthesizing. Then I translate the content into a visual language on large formats, using a mix of metaphor, icons, characters, and lettering. It’s a balance between image and text; the result is more engaging than a report, a block of text, or a standardized presentation that no one wants to read. It’s therefore a more effective way to communicate, because it’s human, imperfect, emotional—it connects with people, engages both hemispheres of the brain, and encourages action. It’s the opposite of a dead letter.

What motivates you in your work?
I love the exercise of synthesis and the creativity—it’s very comprehensive and highly stimulating. I also enjoy the adrenaline of working in real time, improvising the conclusion orally. I really value the contact with clients and the very rewarding feedback I receive about my work. And it’s amazing to work across so many different sectors and witness the major trends and deep transformations happening in the world of organizations. I feel like I have a privileged vantage point—I’m constantly learning, and there’s no limit to developing new projects and refining my craft.

What changes have you made post-pandemic?
Everything shifted to digital—I work less on paper now and much more often with a graphic tablet, whether it’s for graphic recording or creating illustrated videos. I appreciate the flexibility and lightness of these tools, but the physical experience is definitely different. Digital work limits movement and reduces sensory richness. The way I collaborate with clients has also changed a lot—I travel much less for meetings; video calls and online collaborative tools are much more widely accepted by clients now. In that sense, I’ve gained a lot in terms of quality of life.
